A weathered wood deck rebuilt in grey composite in Roselle
A weathered wood deck behind a Roselle home, torn out and rebuilt as a grey composite deck with white railings. Roselle is our home town, the permit went through the village's Cloudpermit portal, and the before and after below are the same deck from the same spot.

What the homeowners wanted
The old deck had gone grey and soft and they were done sanding and staining it. They wanted the same spot off the house, a surface they could wash instead of coat, and a railing that looked finished from the yard.
How we built it
Out with the old deck, boards and frame. A rebuild starts underneath. If the posts or the ledger are past it, keeping the frame is money spent twice, so this one came out whole.
Roselle's permit, which we file constantly. Deck permits here go through the village's Development and Engineering Services Department on its Cloudpermit portal, with a plat of survey and plans, and plan review runs up to 7 to 10 business days. Footings go 42 inches below grade. We know the checklist by heart because our shop is in town.
Grey composite and white railing. A capped composite board that does not need staining, with white railing posts and balusters that stand out against the house. Drag the slider above to see the same corner before and after.
More about building here on our Roselle deck builder page, and what a full tear-out involves on the deck replacement page.
