A dated red wood deck rebuilt in warm composite in Hanover Park
A dated red-stained wood deck behind a Hanover Park home, torn out and rebuilt in warm brown composite with white posts and black railings. The before and after in the slider are the same deck from the same spot. Hanover Park permits run through the village's Inspectional Services Division on Lake Street.

What the homeowners wanted
The red stain on the old deck was the first thing anyone saw from the yard, and they wanted it gone. Same footprint, a warmer natural tone, and a railing with a bit of contrast: white posts, black balusters.
How we built it
A full tear-out. The stained boards and the frame under them came out together.
A permit from one village in two counties. Hanover Park sits in both Cook and DuPage, and the permit still comes from one place: the Village of Hanover Park, Inspectional Services Division, 2121 Lake Street. We file it, with the plat of survey, and we call J.U.L.I.E. before we dig.
Warm composite with a two-tone railing. A brown capped composite board, white posts and black balusters. The posts match the house trim and the balusters disappear against the yard.
